They briefly recap a few of the goodbye scenes. He now has to choose between Tessa and Bevin. They recap a bit of each "couple". Bevin is in love with him. He seems to have chemistry with both of them. Tessa has been "harder to get" along the way but is into him now.
He thinks they are two of the most incredible women he's known and is taking them to see his parents in his home town Lancaster, PA It's been about two years since he's been there. His mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, and sister are there. Cynthia, Andy's mother says Andy doesn't want to be a bachelor anymore. He's ready for a partner. Andy calls it "operation soulmate" and they all cheer with him (and one calls him a goof.. probably his sister.)
It's been almost eight years since he's brought a woman home. Now he's bringing two. He says his family will ask hard questions, especially his grandfather. Tessa is first. She believes you marry into a family. Her mother lives 20 minutes from his. She used to live in Washington D.C. but now in York, Pa. She met her husband while they were hiking. Andy's mother thinks Tessa's beautiful. She thinks she's bright, poised, natural and real. She was drawn to her right away. His grandfather says she's a viable canditdate and that she would have appealed to him when he was younger.
Andy tells his sister that Tessas adventurous and a traveler. He wants to settle down. Andys sister talks to Tessa and wants to know if she would want to go to Hawaii to continue the relationship. Tessa says she would. She says that Andy fills a void that she didnt know about before. She is 100% sure she wants to continue the relationship. As Andy walks Tessa out she says she loves his family and thinks theyre sweet and great.
Andys father prays at dinner. Andy's parents met at Cornell at a scheduled library date. Andys grandfather asks Tessa about her religion. She says she was born and raised catholic but isn't practicing. Andys mother asks her about her masters in social work. She counsels kids who are in foster care. She cares about social justice. They ask her where she sees herself in five years. She says in five years she sees her life more settled, starting a family, and hopefully happy. Andys sister really likes Tessa.
Next Bevin is coming. He thinks it will be harder for her because his family likes Tessa. Bevin wants to make a good impression. She wants them to feel like she could be part of the family. His mother asks about her work and she talks about working with people with Altzhiemers and also about her interest in libido in women going through menopause. When Andys grandfather asks her about her religion she says she was raised in the Bah Faith and that they believe in equality of all people. Andy tells his family that he feels and electric attraction to her he doesnt feel for Tessa. Bevin feels good after meeting his family and can see her eventually fitting in.
He talks to his family about the two women. Hes torn and doesnt want to make the wrong decision. He says he has amazing feelings toward both of them and wants help from his family . His mother sees him more connected to Bevin and that he is confident that Bevin is crazy about him. That is priceless and totally necessary. Grandpa thinks that Tessa is more guarded in her presentation. Andy wants to know (how she feels.) His grandfather says that Andys turned on by Bevin. His father points out that either decision is a fine one. No one has objections to that. Andys parents have been married for 35 yrs. And his grandparents for 60 yrs. He wants to marry the right one. He spent all his time on his long flight thinking about it.
Back in Oahu, Andy is still confused. He meets Bevin and they go for a helicopter ride. Shes never been in a helicopter and is afraid, but he comforts her. She seems to enjoy the ride and they look happy together. They see a beautiful waterfall and other scenery. Bevin says she loved talking to his sister Suzie. Andy wants to know what Suzie asked her; she wanted to know how committed Bevin is to Andy... VERY! After the helicopter ride they go for a picnic. Andy asks what she needs from a partner and she says unconditional love, understanding, a best friend. He says he wants someone with energy, passion, who is nurturing and would be a good mother. He wants to know her reservations. She says she doesnt know how he feels. Shes putting her faith into the time theyve had and the way she feels. She could really see herself there with him. (Hes torn between two incredible women hes in love with.) She wants him to know that shes in love with him and wants to be with him. She asks about what he sees himself doing on his 31st birthday; he wants to get married She gives him a birthday present, a card saying she wants to spend forever with him and a watch. She tells him she loves him and can see an amazing future. He hugs her and whispers to her that he loves her too. She says hes completely worth it to her. He thinks hes in love and its out of this world. She thinks theres no chance in hell hed leave her at the last ceremony without a rose.
Now its time for him to see Tessa. Andy says Tessa has to go full throttle or forget it. Its too late now for baby steps. Tessa knows its her last opportunity. She knows both she and Bevin have connections with Andy. They go horseback riding on the beach. They get to a romantic setup on the beach and go for a sunset swim. They play in the water then kiss. They are both nervous. She thinks they should live it to the fullest tonight as if there was no tomorrow. He has so much fun with her. She feels just right with him and happy. She feels absolute excitement and giddiness. He says sometimes the best things are a risk. She talks about how its hard for her to open up. She feels he cares for her but is not sure hes going to pick her. He wants to know if theres anything shes scared of. She says a lot, the unknown, her feelings on the line. He appreciates the risk she took by staying and she appreciates him taking the risk of keeping her there even though she wasnt opening up to him. She has a surprise.. She gives him a letter telling of her feelings for him. She writes that everything falls together for her when shes with him and hopes he feels the same way. She doesnt want o go back to the life she was living before she met him. Shes in love with him. He says he loves her too and to hear those words mean so much to him. She made a collage of/about them and framed it. He tells her again that he loves her.
The dates are now over and Andy has to decide. He feels potential with Tessa. She is so refined, sophisticated, and versatile. He could see her by his side in any situation. His connection with Bevin is unlike anything hes experienced and it warms his soul. He takes a morning run to think about what hes going to do. He feels he could propose to both and is not sure what hes going to do.
As shes getting ready, Tessa is nervous. She feels that in the beginning she wasted a lot of time and moments because she was closed off. She realized she was falling in love on the home town date. She knows she cant turn back time but hopes moments cam be made up for.
Bevin cant believe its last day. She adores him, loves him, and wants to spend her life with him and create a family. She knew from the moment she got out of the limo and their eyes met. She is definitely in love. (They flash to a scene of him carrying her.) She would not turn away a proposal.
Andy goes to beautiful shop to look at diamond rings. After showing a few rings the woman pulls out a box and shows him a round cut diamond they thought hed like (because hes conservative.). Andy thinks he has to figure out who touched his heart the deepest with Tessa it just took off, but Bevin its been non-stop with such passion she loves me.
They flash to each woman crying. Tessa says its so hard. Bevin says its been such an emotional rollercoaster shes been letting go and letting her heart do the talking.
They flash to Andy, coming out of a limo then flash to each woman. Back to Andy, hes hoping in a few minutes hell be engaged to the woman of his dreams hes been looking for. Hes standing with the rose. Hes sure of his decision and it's a dream come true but he doesnt want to break heart of a woman he cares about.
Bevin shows up. She has fallen in love. She knows they would have a wonderful future together. Hes taught her to open up and trust. Shes risking everything. They were meant to be together. Andy tells her that she is so beautiful and that he has thought so from the first time he saw her. He says their connection is electric, like hes never felt before and she opened up and put herself out there. He says he loves her too and wishes he could show her. He says this has been hardest decision of his life. He wants her to know its the finest line between someone loves and someone he loves. He says its not a rejection at all, just someone touched his heart deeper. He says its a privilege to feel way he feels about her. Bevin is devastated. He says he will never forget her.
As Bevin leaves she feels he doesnt love her that she should have expected it. She took a chance and thought he could be the one. She cant believe shes been rejected and had no idea. Bevin would have loved to start a family with him in Hawaii. She feels like a fool. They show Andy saying that he felt a strong connection to Bevin and hes broken up. He cries. He says he respects her. They flash to her back in the limo saying that this is the story of her life and it happens to her all the time.
Tessa arrives and he says shes a wish come true and that anythings possible. She is very nervous. She wants to be with him more than anything and is bubbling over. She doesnt want her heart broken. He says that she always looks beautiful in blue (shes wearing blue) and is everything hes been looking for. She makes him laugh and is up for anything. Hes a king with her his queen at his side. He says they have so much in common and that todays special because its just you and me! She kisses him. She is so happy and so in love with him.
Andy proposes on bended knee. Hes always imagined this day but its beyond his wildest drams. He asks Tessa, will you marry me? and she says yes. He says she has his heart she says he has hers. The last thing he asks Tessa will you accept this rose, the final rose? and she says yes. To the song Up Where We Belong they show a montage of snap shots of Tessa and Andy. Then to them saying they love each other.
