There are probably a lot of you out there that are fans of soaps that no longer air...such as "Ryan's Hope", "Another World", "Port Charles", "Generations", "The Doctors", "Love Is A Splendored Thing", "The Edge Of Night", etc.

Remember This? Twenty-five years ago....... The late Barbara Bel Geddes's portrayal of Miss Elle on DALLAS won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Cover Story: Cocky soap newcomer Doug Stevenson (Lee, SEARCH FOR TOMORROW on cover with Marcia McCabe, Sunny) confessed his impatience with the genre. "A soap is creatively stiffling-it's like doing those paint-by-number kits," he remarked. "But I've learned to work in front of the camers and relax." Update: Stevenson stayed with SFT until 1982. That same year, the show was canceled by CBS (its home since 1951), but picked up by NBC, which had just killed two daytime dramas, TEXAS and THE DOCTORS. Low ratings finally led to SFT's demise in 1986. Not surprisingly, Stevenson never found work in daytime again. Synopsis Highlight: As Phoebe and Langley were being joined in holy wedlock on ALL MY CHILDREN, Myrtle uncovered proof that he was a convicted criminal! |

Ryan's Hope was the first soap opera that I sorta watched when I played "sick" hooky from school. LOL I was so enchanted by some of the Irish accents that a few of the characters had.
I also found the story line followable (my new made up word LOL) from "sickness" to sickness. I do remember when it ended.
